China's top diplomat, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, declared that 2026 could be a landmark year for US-China relations if both sides treat each other with sincerity and good faith.
Wang urged a ceasefire in the Middle East conflict and suggested that the hostilities would not affect Chinese leader Xi Jinping's plan to host President Trump when he visits China from March 31 to April 2.
The success of the summit could see a tariff truce extended and stabilize an external environment for trade, but Beijing's tolerance for compromise doesn't extend to its own backyard, including its claim on Taiwan.
