0:22Now PlayingBelarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will make his first visit to North Korea, as the two sanctioned states look to build ties. #politics #worldnews #asia #europe
The official visit, planned for March 25-26, comes at the invitation of leader Kim Jong Un, according to a statement on the Telegram channel for Lukashenko’s press pool, Pul Pervogo. The two leaders will discuss relations between the two countries as well as ways to “boost two-way cooperation.”
The Belarusian leader’s trip underscores North Korea’s efforts to shore up overseas relations after years of isolation and sanctions. Lukashenko’s ally, Russian President Vladimir Putin, visited the nuclear state in June 2024.
