China's President Xi Jinping met with Kuomintang Chairperson Cheng Li-wun, reaffirming Beijing's claim to sovereignty over Taiwan and warning against interference from the US. #china #taiwan #politics #worldnews #asia

Xi said Taiwan independence would neither be tolerated nor condoned, describing it as the "chief culprit" behind disruptions in the Taiwan Strait, and expressed interest in Taiwan's agricultural and fishery goods.

Cheng proposed an institutionalized framework for peace, but there was little visible response from Xi, and her visit is being closely watched in both Washington and Taipei, which are wary of the KMT's efforts to build closer ties with Beijing.
