Peace talks between the US and Iran ground to a standstill on Tuesday, with reports stating that Iranian officials refused to attend and Vice President JD Vance put off a planned trip to Pakistan.

Iran informed the US, via mediator Pakistan, that it won’t attend talks that were slated to take place Wednesday in Islamabad, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported. Separately, the Associated Press reported that Vance called off his trip. The vice president had been expected to depart Washington on Tuesday for negotiations.
