Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will also be in Pakistan, but has not publicly agreed to meet with Trump's representatives, including special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The US has increased pressure on Iran with a naval blockade, and Trump has ordered the US Navy to shoot any boat putting mines in the Strait of Hormuz, in an effort to cut off Iran's oil exports and force it to make concessions.
