The death toll has risen to 586, based on numbers from authorities in Nepal and China, as ongoing search and rescue efforts face challenges in the aftermath of the disaster.
Nepal’s Prime Minister Balen Shah said more than 15,000 personnel had been mobilized for rescue operations and denied reports that Nepal had rejected foreign aid, saying the government was coordinating with India, China and others.
