Our review of previously unreported government documents and interviews with more than a dozen people — including current and former Treasury employees, bank executives and cybersecurity experts — uncovered new details about the hacks that underscore concerns about the department's cybersecurity defense dating back years. In all three instances, Bloomberg's investigation shows, the department failed to deploy security measures that might have prevented the breaches or flagged the intruders sooner.
