The US is considering creative ways to refill the nation’s depleted Strategic Petroleum Reserve as it plans to start slowly refilling the massive oil cache, Energy Secretary Chris Wright said in an interview Tuesday.
“We’ll do some creative deals with resources that I think we can get compensated in oil and put it in the SPR,” Wright said, adding he also is working to get funding approved by Congress
NOTE: Wright declined to provide more details on the plan
Wright said canceling pending SPR sales mandated by Congress and finishing repairs on the reserve is needed first
