Elina Valtonen, Finland's foreign minister, says Russia is NATO's top threat in the long-term and that the country is working with other 'rogue states' to destabilize peace across the world.

President Donald Trump should make sure any deal with Russia to end its war in Ukraine leads to a lasting peace, said Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen.

“I’m a little bit worried now, to be honest, what the next days and weeks will bring,” Valtonen said in an interview on with Bloomberg TV on Monday from New York. “We, just like the Ukrainians, want to have peace as soon as possible, but not at any cost.”

While the war isn’t “Trump’s war,” the peace will be “Trump’s peace,” she said. “And I’m sure President Trump is interested in having a lasting peace — and if it’s not just, then it typically wouldn’t last.”
