- US oil stocks jumped in premarket trading on Monday after President Trump pledged to revive the Venezuelan energy sector following the capture of Nicolás Maduro over the weekend.Chevron Corp. (CVX), the only American oil major currently operating in the South American nation under special US permission, gained as much as 10%. ConocoPhillips (COP) and Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) also rose.
- Gold and silver, both haven assets, are higher as investors weigh elevated geopolitical risk. Miners Newmont (NEM) and Barrick Mining (B) were both among the gainers in premarket trading.
- Growth assets remain in demand, with technology stocks driving gains in equities. The buoyant mood in big tech stocks was prevalent in Asia's Monday session, where a regional gauge hit an all-time high. Shares of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Micron Technology (MU), and Applied Materials (AMAT) all moved higher ahead of the US market open.
