9:48Now PlayingSpeaking on Bloomberg Television in Davos early Wednesday before Trump’s arrival, US Trade representative Jamieson Greer said he “just came from a meeting” with Maros Sefcovic, the European commissioner for trade.
Greer complained that Brussels still hasn’t followed through on its pledges and said the issues covered in that agreement are separate from the Greenland debate, so the two should be “compartmentalized.”
“For me, I try to keep those separate. For them, they put those together,” he said.
The transatlantic rift over the US president’s ambitions has overshadowed the annual gathering of the world’s financial and political elite and has soured Washington’s ties with several key allies. Some European officials and analysts worry Trump’s focus on Greenland will draw attention away from more immediate concerns like support for Ukraine’s effort to fend off Russia.
