Dell addressed the issue days after Anthropic sued to block a Pentagon decision last week to declare the AI provider a supply-chain risk and bar it from federal procurement in a dispute over safeguards sought by the firm in its defense contract.
Speaking from a forum in Washington on federal government contracting, Dell said that his company has systems and controls in place to ensure that it’s only selling to authorized users, without elaborating further. - Dell Technologies Inc. Chief Executive Officer Michael Dell said that a company doing business with the government can’t tell agencies how to use its technology, responding to a question about Anthropic PBC’s feud with the US Defense Department.
“I don’t think a company can dictate to a sovereign government what it does with its tools,” Dell said in a Bloomberg Television interview on Thursday, without referencing Anthropic by name. “I just don’t think that’s workable model.”
