1) President Trump said he called off a new bombardment of Iran planned for Tuesday after Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf allies wanted more time to pursue diplomacy. Trump said the US delayed the strikes "for a little while, hopefully maybe forever," because "we've had very big discussions with Iran, and we'll see what they amount to." There was no immediate confirmation from Tehran of renewed talks, and Tehran's leaders have taken a hard line, insisting the US ends a blockade of Iranian ports and provides assurances they won't be attacked again.
2) A jury rejected Elon Musk's claims that OpenAI betrayed its mission to benefit the public by morphing into a for-profit business, finding that he waited too long to sue the company. The verdict is a major relief for OpenAI as it eyes a potential initial public offering, and Musk and his lawyers have vowed an appeal. The jury concluded that Musk had enough knowledge about his claims years ago that he should have sued sooner, and did not address his central claim that OpenAI abandoned its responsibilities to develop AI for the benefit of humanity.
3) New York City’s transit system and Long Island Rail Road workers reached a potential labor agreement, ending a historic strike that suspended service on the largest commuter line in the US. The agreement doesn’t rely on higher-than-budgeted fare hikes or raising taxes to pay for higher wages, according to Governor Kathy Hochul.
