Information technology stocks led the market higher, as 8 of 11 sectors gained; 349 of 503 shares rose, while 152 fell.
Nvidia contributed the most to the index gain, increasing 1.3%. United Airlines Holdings Inc. had the largest increase, rising 10.0%.
