- Santander shares declined as much as 1.6%, among the worst performers on the Stoxx 600 Banks Index, as analysts noted 2Q earnings were unexciting even as the Spanish lender beat estimates.
- Iberdrola fell as much as 3% in Madrid trading after deciding against raising full-year guidance following a 1H beat. The company is also buying a stake in Finland’s main electricity network for €2b, which analysts see as a good strategic fit but at a “full” price.
