4:09Now PlayingToday's biggest winners and losers in the stock market.
On this episode of Stock Movers:
- Berkshire Hathaway (BRK) share are up after earnings this weekend. Berkshire Hathaway spent about $4.5 billion to buy back its own shares in the second quarter and purchased nearly $20 billion of equities in the period, signs that Chief Executive Officer Greg Abel is putting more of the firm’s cash pile to work. Operating earnings climbed 16% in the three months through June to nearly $13 billion, driven in part by gains in the conglomerate’s manufacturing, service and retailing division, as well as at its utilities business.
- TSMC (TSM) shares are higher after it reported a 45% rise in its monthly sales, a sign of sustained demand for AI hardware in the face of market volatility.
- Verisk (VRSK) shares are lower after a Delaware Chancery Court judge ruled that Verisk Analytics Inc. must consummate a $2.35 billion merger with AccuLynx.com, rejecting Verisk's efforts to spike the deal over antitrust clearance issues. The judge stated that Verisk's "willful conduct" caused the failure of a condition to closing and ordered specific performance, also saying AccuLynx is entitled to damages for direct costs, plus interest.
