The shelter component of US CPI, still rising at 8%, is the key category causing headline inflation to remain elevated. Headline CPI peaked in June 2022 and has since declined to 4%. That's quite impressive progress, but with the shelter component removed the headline figure would be closer to 2.3%. Presented by @cmegroup
