Thex-Bank of Canada and Bank of England governor won the contest to lead the Liberal Party of Canada with nearly 86% of the vote. “America is not Canada. And Canada never, ever, will be part of America in any way, shape or form,” Carney said in his victory speech on Sunday. Wall Street stock futures dropped and Treasuries ticked higher as Trump’s protectionist policies and cuts to the federal workforce dented confidence in US economic outperformance. Contracts for the S&P 500 declined 1%, following the worst week for the benchmark index since September. European stocks slipped 0.4%.
