ASML’s orders in the second quarter beat estimates after the artificial intelligence boom drove demand for its chip-making machines. The Dutch company that counts both TSMC and Intel among its customers, reported order bookings of €5.5 billion ($6.4 billion) in the period, against an average estimate of €4.8 billion by analysts in data compiled by Bloomberg. Bloomberg Intelligence's Masahiro Wakasugi breaks down the situation.
