Negotiations around the US the government shutdown appear to be moving in the wrong direction as some Senators like Maine's Angus King reconsider their vote on the Republican's clean continuing resolution.

The White House is considering not paying federal employees for days they have been furloughed during the shutdown, according to a person familiar with the matter. Trump spoke about that possibility in the Oval Office today.
