On today's show, the US senate took a major step towards re-opening the government after several Democrats broke with party leaders to side with Republicans to pass a deal aimed at ending the shutdown. Amid signs there may be a shutdown breakthrough, the US is continuing to experience flight chaos, with more than 10,000 delays and cancellations on Sunday alone.
Meanwhile, China's consumer prices increased in October, with CPI rising 0.2% from a year earlier. However, economists see the price increase as likely fleeting, with deflationary pressures remaining entrenched.
The BBC's Director-General Tim Davie is to resign amid allegations the broadcaster misled viewers by editing President Donald Trump's remarks in a documentary. News chief Deborah Turness has also quit over the controversy.
