Google's parent, Alphabet, rose while Nvidia fell in late trading, on reports that Meta is in talks to spend billions of dollars on the search giant's AI chips. The Information says Meta plans to use Google's tensor processing units or TPUs in data centers in 2027.
Xi Jinping spoke to Donald Trump in their first call since the trade truce, pressing the US president on Taiwan. Trump said he agreed to visit Beijing in April and invited Xi for a state visit next year. Japan Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said Trump briefed her on his call with Xi.
