The funding would come in legislation authored by Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, which would allow Republicans to pass the funding over Democratic objections.
Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer blasted the bid for taxpayer funding, saying Republicans "are on a different planet than American families" and criticizing the allocation of funds for a Trump ballroom amid other priorities.
