Stocks rose to a record as investors doubled down on the artificial intelligence trade that’s powered equities to all-time highs, even as oil climbed as a US-Iran ceasefire deal remained elusive.
The US and Iran traded messages over the weekend seeking changes to a draft agreement that would extend a ceasefire and open the Strait of Hormuz, but it was unclear whether the sides were making much progress. As the diplomatic exchanges continued, Israel expanded its ground assault in Lebanon, shattering a brittle truce with its northern neighbor.
And Nvidia announced it is entering the PC market with a new chip aimed at loosening the stranglehold of Intel technology in that arena and modernizing the machines for the AI era.
