‘Economic Isolation’ Plan for Iran, Farage Wins UK Election | The Opening Trade 8/14/2026

The US will soon announce unprecedented economic measures against Iran, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, intensifying the Trump administration’s effort to force Tehran’s capitulation after almost six months of war. “Watch this space for more announcements coming next week because we are going to apply measures like have never been seen in the history of economic isolation on a country,” Bessent said in an interview with Newsmax on Thursday.

Nigel Farage is returning to Parliament after winning a comfortable election with 62.8% of the vote in the constituency centered on Clacton-on-Sea. Farage's victory came over his main competitor, Count Binface, who received 26.7% of the vote, and the UK's major parties, including the Labour Party and the Conservatives, boycotted the election.
