5:25Now PlayingLooking for your next game for the whole family that takes you away from your screens? We’ve got just the thing!
In this week’s Show and Tell, host Peter Salib brings you the Blinks gaming system by Move38. Geek & Sundry says it, “plays like a game from the future.”
Created by a former MIT research assistant and backed by a very successful Kickstarter campaign, Blinks was developed using open source code to create a tabletop experience like no other. Through a series of hexagon-shaped pieces that connect via magnets, you can play different games by yourself or with family and friends.
The Move38 founder, Jonathan Bobrow, wanted to create a toy that stimulated systems thinking, and Blinks does exactly that. Each piece contains its own game and each game works with its own unique set of rules. The technology used is IR LEDs, or infrared light emitting diodes. Using IR LEDs, each piece is in communication with the other for whichever game you’re playing at the moment. To top it all off, developers who are fans of Blinks can create their own games to play using the system.
