Our host, Sam Bloomquist, talks to Adrienne Smith, Founder & CEO of Gridiron Queendom and Blitz Champz, who’s an actress on “Orange Is The New Black”, wide receiver for the Boston Renegades, and a longtime football advocate to discuss just how important football can be, and the lessons it can teach for both kids, and those entering the world of business.
Football can teach people a lot about themselves and who they are in life. This is especially important for kids, and how football can positively impact kids’ lives. Smith says that football is a tremendous factor in preparing kids for life. Kids will learn leadership, teamwork, and using their individual skill sets to work towards achieving a common goal.
And in Football you look for the right people, the right coaches, who can help you achieve your goals. This is the same for business. Smith says in business you also need to find the right people who can help you on your path. Those people will help you build your dream and you will move forward regardless of what it takes.
And football is for everyone! Smith recalls how grateful she was growing up that her parents saw how much she loved football, and didn’t stifle that interest because she was a girl, but instead encouraged it.
Smith also created a football card game for kids and families called Blitz Champz. Smith says it’s a fantastic game that not only gives people a sense of playing football on the field, but also reinforces math skills for kids. She loved being able to take the camaraderie, friendship, and excitement of football, and convert it into a card game.
