Cicely Tyson passed away at 96 - Just days after the one year anniversary of the tragic helicopter crash that tragically took 9 victims including Kobe and Gigi Bryant, black Hollywood royalty Cicely Tyson passed away. Some of Cicely Tyson’s iconic appearances include 1972’s “Sounder”, 2006’s “Madea’s Family Reunion”, 2011’s “The Help”, and the hit ABC series “How To Get Away With Murder”. The outpouring of love on social media from both her fans and her co-workers exemplifies that Cicely Tyson will be deeply missed.
Amanda Gorman makes history - the 22-year-old poet who presented her speech at the 46th presidential inauguration has now made history once again. In addition to be signed by IMG models, Amanda Gorman also performed at the big game this past Sunday as the first poet ever to grace the pre-show.
Jojo Siwa comes out - this bubbly and fun pop star shares her authentic self with the world as she comes out as being part of the LGBTQ+ community. Jojo Siwa, star of both “Dance Moms” and Nickelodeon, took to Instagram last week to express her joy stating, “I’ve never, ever, ever been this happy before.” Jojo Siwa received support from celebrities such as Lil Nas X and Ellen DeGeneres and has become an even bigger role model for millennials and gen z as she continues to promote self-love, acceptance, and transparency.
High School Musical history lesson - Monique Coleman, actress from the hit Disney channel television movie, opened up about her experience on set. Monique Coleman, who played Taylor McCaskey, unveils the real reason behind her signature headband look. Her scarf styles were essential due to the lack of knowledge on styling black hair. Monique Coleman stated, “the truth is, is that they had done my hair and they had done it very poorly in the front”.
