We know that the uphill climb that small businesses face in America is a bipartisan issue that we can all agree on. But how can we fix this? How can we address the uneven playing field between small businesses and bigger corporations?
To answer this, David Grasso moderates a debate between Autry Pruitt, CEO of New Journey PAC, and Democratic strategist Max Burns. You do NOT want to miss this debate!
Pruitt starts off by saying that Democrats won’t be able to solve the problem with small businesses, because they are the problem. For example, you can see that where Amazon looked to build their second headquarters was always in primarily Democratic states.
Burns responds by saying that the Republicans haven’t been as helpful either. The defense industry and farming industry are examples of industries that have advanced by decimating small businesses. You can’t operate a farm as a small family and find success anymore. You need to be a multinational corporation.
So while both agree that this is a serious issue, how can we empower entrepreneurship in this country again?
Pruit says that this is a state problem because states and localities are entering into agreements with these corporations.
Burns says that simply bringing in federal tax enforcement through the IRS to close loopholes. And this money can be used to fund small businesses in states.
