We want to know, should Americans receive monthly stimulus checks? To hear this one out, we brought in two friends of Bold, Democratic strategist Max Burns, and political strategist Ajay Bruno.
From the get go both of our guests agree that some sort of stimulus is needed in the country. Where they disagree is how this stimulus should be targeted.
Bruno starts off and says that a one size fits all approach wouldn’t work, and we need to approach this from a mathematical perspective. We need people who are actually reading what is being proposed, and we need sound economics behind what we are doing so we are not wasting taxpayer dollars.
Burns agrees that it’s a great question in regards to figuring out how we find the people who actually need the stimulus money, and he says that that’s where accountability structures come in. One of the biggest complaints about the PPP loans, or the Payroll Protection Program, was that there was no accountability structure and it led to slush funds for corporations and fraud.
And with a recovery bill that’s over $1 trillion dollars, how much of it is going into the hands of the people that actually need it?
