Cancel Culture is everywhere, and we need to talk about it. Why is this happening?
Blurred lines between companies and politics means companies are getting cancelled for their political views. And this isn’t just liberals, conservatives are also taking part in Cancel Culture. People everywhere are boycotting and trashing companies for their political statements!
Here are the top 4 companies that people have tried to cancel.
Nike - when the sneaker giant collaborated with the former NFL star Colin Kaepernick conservatives were furious! Colin Kaepernick is famously known for kneeling during the national anthem as a protest against racial inequality and police brutality. Do you think Colin Kaepernick deserved this kind of criticism?
Goya - Democrats began to boycott Goya after the Goya CEO was showing support to Trump. The Goya CEO announced his company would donate 1 million cans of chickpeas, and another 1 million pounds of food, to food banks in the United States. Things went South when it was announced that this was part of Trump’s Hispanic Prosperity Initiative, and the CEO praised Trump’s work for the Hispanic community.
Keurig - in 2017, the company pulled ads from Sean Hannity’s primetime Fox News show after he gave support to Roy Moore’s senate campaign. Roy Moore was facing sexual misconduct allegations at the time. This led to Democrats taking videos of themselves destroying their own Keurigs.
MyPillow - Liberals want to boycott MyPillow and it’s founder, Mike Lindell. Originally, Mike Lindell was just a pillow guy with a mustache, and before we knew it Mike Lindell was all over Twitter talking about voter fraud. Bolstered by former President Trump’s allegations of voter fraud, Mike Lindell made a name for himself trying to get these claims on social media. And he was given multiple warnings until they eventually banned Mike Lindell’s and MyPillow’s Twitter accounts.
