Text neck has been around for a few years now, but with a year of staying at home and working from home, this issue has only increased. So many of us do not have a home office set up that is ergonomically correct for our posture, and with this long exposure we’re seeing side effects that aren’t looking good.
More specifically, forward head posture has become a much larger issue. We’re seeing forward head posture more and more as we crane our necks forward at our desks and have worse and worse posture. It’s time we practiced good posture hygiene and spine hygiene.
To help us with this, Shay Sayss is joined by a chiropractor, Dr Nona Djavid, to help us learn exercises and give us tips on how to avoid forward head posture and text neck.
What can we do to avoid text neck? What forward head posture exercises and text neck exercises can we do?
To start off, Dr Nona Djavid stresses the 20 20 20 rule. What is the 20 20 20 rule? The 20 20 20 rule is every 20 minutes of sitting in front of a computer, take 20 seconds to look away from the screen and stretch your neck. These neck stretches will definitely help any neck pain.
What can we do to our home office to avoid text neck? Take a look around your home office, and make sure everything you have is conducive to good posture.
