The New York State Governor, Andrew Cuomo, signed a bill into law making recreational cannabis legal. New York State’s economy is a major influence on the rest of the country, so how they handle this bill could be a template for other states. Is this the future for legal cannabis in America?
To help us with this, Philip Michael brought in the CEO of KushCo Holdings, Nicholas Kovacevich.
According to Nicholas Kovacevich, this is only creating a domino effect with other states in the Union. And while we still see it as legal in states, we have yet to see it as a platform at the federal level, and it currently isn’t a priority with the Biden Administration.
What opportunities will emerge for entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry, or the plant touching industry? Kovacevich says that hundreds of thousands of jobs have been created over the last three to four years and that it’s estimated in NY alone that they will employ 60,000 jobs. And that’s only those directly involved. There are also ancillary companies, like Kushco Holdings and Greenlane, who don’t touch the plant but provide products and services to those cannabis companies.
