Joining Sam Bloomquist today is Andre Walters, formally from the Charlotte Hornets. He is a co-founder of Free Fenix, and an expert at the business of franchising and owning a franchise.
How does an entrepreneur get into franchising?
According to Andre Walters, all it takes is an appetite for that particular business. In the case of Free Fenix, it began with Duck Donuts, and wanting to own a Duck Donuts location. While he had a Duck Donuts location in Atlanta, Georgia, his future business partner also wanted to get into franchising the IP and the two of them connected. Through their dual efforts of owning a franchise, they formed what is now known as Free Fenix.
What from sports helped you learn about franchising advantages and disadvantages?
You really have to have a hunger for owning a franchise, because there will always be a lot of competition. Especially in the food industry there is a lot of competition, and you have to strategize and come out on top.
Where did Free Fenix come from and what does it do for entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship?
Free Fenix is focused on creating opportunities, and have significant impacts on the communities they serve, in this case Charlotte and Atlanta.
