2020 changed everything for the US economy, and the federal reserve decided to print a lot of money. Not only this, but the government went on it’s own spending spree, remember your stimulus checks?
So you have the government spending money through stimulus checks and otherwise, and the federal reserve printing more money than ever. What does this mean for the US economy? Well, we’re starting to see rising inflation. What is inflation? Simply put, it’s rising prices in the economy.
Rising inflation was a big issue in the 70s and today we’re seeing a similar pattern start to emerge as the value of the dollar falls, and prices rise. And to put it very simply, many economists are worried the US economy is about to enter the same issue of stagflation. What is stagflation? Stagflation is when you see rising prices, but the economy doesn’t exactly boom but instead, stagnates.
