It’s called Amazon Web Services, or AWS. This is the service where Amazon makes most of its money, and not the Amazon Prime packages that come to your door.
Amazon Web Services is another form of cloud computing. What is cloud computing? Its services, such as web hosting and data storage, are found online where servers for the user aren’t physical but online, in a “cloud”.
AWS and cloud computing is all in all a very profitable business especially in 2021. And in 2021, cloud computing is found with the every day user, and some of the largest companies in the world, like Netflix or LinkedIn.
It’s also been common knowledge for the past couple of years that Amazon Web Services is accountable for most of Amazon’s profits, and in fact might even suffer a loss in profits from their retail services that you and I are familiar with.
So when you’re thinking about prime day 2021, you might not even be contributing to profits for Amazon. Yup. AWS is a giant and if standing alone would be one of the most profitable companies on Earth.
