The 2021 MLB All Star Game, also known as the “Midsummer Classic,” was moved from Atlanta to Denver after the new Georgia voting law was passed. Was this the right move to make?

Welcome back to Millennial Minute with Sam Bloomquist! Be sure to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell for all things BOLD.

Joining Sam Bloomquist today is democratic strategist Max Burns, and political strategist Ajay Bruno to give their thoughts on this seemingly partisan issue.

Was the MLB in the right or in the wrong to move the 2021 MLB All Star Game?

Ajay Bruno starts off by saying that the legal right is still a grey area, but morally? That is a whole other issue, and Ajay thinks that they shouldn’t move it because this reason is politically motivated. Especially because all the new Georgia voting law is saying is that essentially you are legally required to have an ID to vote. He says that he thinks what major league baseball is doing now is causing him to lose a bit of faith in this country. Baseball is America’s pastime and he’s disgusted.

Should Major League Baseball be responsible for the estimated $100 million in tourism that Atlanta will lose in revenue this year?

Max Burns says the Republican Party was given plenty of warning by businesses that they morally wouldn’t feel compelled to continue their business in Georgia if they established this voting law. He goes on to say that the Republican Party only seems to get upset when these things happen (boycotts and the like) when it’s targeted against them. There was no such concern when they boycotted Keurig, boycotted the NFL, etc.

What do you think about the new Georgia voting law? What about the Midsummer Classic move from Atlanta to Denver? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
