Fashion at The Met Gala
Kim Kardashian wore all black in what looked like a full-body mask. While others like Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (also known as AOC) used their dress to make a political statement. The night was filled with all sorts of outlandish costumes and included some of the world’s biggest stars in attendance.
Biden Declassified FBI 9/11 Report
This report was written five years ago and covered the terrorists involved in the attack and their ties to Saudi diplomats living in the US. This report said something different from the 2004 9/11 Commission report. The 2004 report said two Saudi diplomats who lived in the US left the US three weeks before the attack, did know the hijackers, but did not actively support them. The new FBI report says something different. They found that these Saudi diplomats did support these hijackers and one encounter was not a coincidence. The new FBI report also says that the Saudi diplomats were suspicious because they were both in touch with other terrorists planning attacks against the US. The new FBI report does not link the whole Saudi government, but the families who are suing the Saudi government see things differently. Their lawyer argues that this new FBI report shows proof that the Saudi government was actively involved in the tragedy. It is difficult to know for sure but Biden plans to declassify more documents, which may create an even larger rift between the US and Saudi government.
North Korea is Having More Trouble
The North Korean government is hosting huge parades which are usually a sign of a struggling government trying to keep their people calm. It’s not hard to guess how they are struggling. Back in January, North Korea closed its borders to everyone, even China. Now, they are facing major food shortages and a really bad economy. At the parade, Kim Jong-Un looks slimmer. His appearance and the military parade could be the government showing the people that their leader is starving along with them but also strong because of the military parade and their decision to launch two long-range ballistic missiles.
Trouble in Guinea
A senior military official has overthrown the government in Guinea. Yes, it is a military coup. The former president was an autocrat who drafted a new constitution that would allow him to be president longer than the country’s two-term limit. When the people protested, the government cracked down on the protests with arrests and violence. However, the senior military official also does not have a great record. We had Jeffrey Smith join us and tell us more about the situation in Guinea and the military coup.
