While Philip is not a financial advisor, he can share what he has observed. For example, gold typically and historically is one of the assets that people go to to protect themselves from inflation. And right now there is a huge increase in inflation.
Some have referred to Bitcoin as digital gold, a gold alternative, or even a gold equivalent. You would hope that you could place your money there and it would preserve its value over time. Unfortunately, there is the factor of volatility in Bitcoin that you don’t see in gold. So, it’s unclear. But overall gold has been historically a place where you can park your money.
Silver has less value in terms of being a precious metal. But there are other precious metals. For example, there is a smaller supply of platinum but there’s a possible growth in value with platinum. The value of platinum isn’t totally linked to the supply of platinum.
In terms of gold, you have to decide what your goals are. If you are making any investment, you always have to ask yourself why you are doing this investment. Are you looking for growth? Are you looking to protect yourself against inflation? Am I looking for a quick turnaround, which rarely happens? Am I looking for something stable?
Am I looking to take a larger risk and hopefully get something that can get me 10x returns? This is the venture capital route; 1 out of 10 will succeed but that one will give you more money than the money you lost from the 9 busts.
