Hip Hop fans on social media are making fun of an artist named Mr. Cooper. Mr.Cooper filed a lawsuit against stars Drake and Chris Brown claiming their song ‘No Guidance’ infringed on his copyright. He claims they copied his lyrics and melodies from his song ‘I Love Your Dress.’ ‘You got it girl, you got it.’ Fans tried to compare the songs and see if he’s right. However, hip hop fans overwhelmingly think that Mr. Cooper is just suing for clout, also known as clout chasing.
In the past, such lawsuits have won. Michael Jackson’s song ‘You Are Not Alone,’ written by R. Kelly plagiarized an obscure song by two Belgian brothers. They won and so did Marvin Gaye’s estate when they sued Robin Williams and Pharell for plagiarizing ‘Blurred Lines.’
However, there are many frivolous cases that have no grounds. It’s unclear what will be the outcome of Mr. Cooper’s case.
