58% of College Students Are Women. But The Pay Gap Still Persists, Why? More college students are women now but the pay gap still persists and it affects things differently depending on the job.

Women now make up 58% of college students now, according to the New York Times. Pew Research Labs released a study on the gender pay gap through 2020. They found that women aged 25 through 34 earn 93 cents for every dollar that a man in the same age group made.

Experts believe the pay gap persists because women are underrepresented in low-income jobs, and the boom of women getting a secondary education has led to an increase in women in higher-paying corporate jobs. In lower-paying jobs, women are less likely to stay because of discrimination, denial of promotions, feelings of isolation, and the urge to stay home with their children. So while women are making more money because of their increase in education and creating equality in corporate jobs. Those working entry-level jobs are still facing pay gap issues.
