The average woman now waits until she is 28 years old to marry, whereas the average man waits until he is 30. This has changed drastically since the 1960s, when the median age for women was 20 and for males was 23,

Financial security is one of the main reasons why starting a family is difficult. A stable income is something that everyone requires. A number of factors are preventing younger generations from achieving financial stability.

They're tied down by student loan debt. One in every three persons under the age of 30 owes 34 percent of all student loan debt, according to the Education Data Initiative. This will make it impossible for them to afford a wedding, a home, or children.

Furthermore, the necessity of having a stable career can put off the desire to marry. As young people start out in a career, they can move around a lot, both geographically and financially. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average worker holds 10 different jobs before the age of 40.

So, what happens if you postpone your wedding? You will be an older parent if you desire to have children. Is this, however, such a bad thing? If you wait until later in life to start a family, you may be better equipped to support them financially. This can help young families deal with a lot of stress.

What do you think? How old do you want to be when you get married? Let us know in the comments below.
