Many businesses are asking you to tip when they haven't previously, or are asking for a higher tip. More businesses are now embracing contactless payment systems, and many have their systems set up to automatically ask for a tip on each transaction.
Every month, three million people use the Square mobile payment app, according to business.org. This opens up a slew of new options for tips that would not have been given otherwise.
When asked to tip, some people become irritated because they do not believe it was earned. People are also changing their tipping habits as a result of this. According to a ValuePenguin survey, 58 percent of respondents said they are tipping more now than they have ever been.
