Yes, the metaverse is open for marriage. The virtual world continues to incorporate real-life in what may become a trillion-dollar part of the economy in the future.
And if you want to celebrate your love with someone special in the metaverse, you can meet up in Decentraland and visit the close-up City Hall of Love.
And you and your partner can have a ceremony there. You can also invite your friends and family without anyone needing to travel. And at the end of the ceremony, you and your partner will receive an NFT
The marriage certificate will be stored in both of your MetaMask wallets. Of course, the metaverse isn't real folks so your NFT certificate isn't legally binding.
So why go through with it? Well, the truth is that there are many places around the world that don't allow everyone to get married. Same-sex marriage is still illegal in many countries and other unions like interracial or intercaste marriage also face stigma in places around the world.
The metaverse provides a space where any couple can celebrate their love by having a virtual wedding. It may not be legally binding but their marriage is encrypted forever on the blockchain.
