Customers will be wiped out if Coinbase goes bankrupt, according to one of the most well-known exchange platforms. And, of course, the federal government backs bank accounts up to $250,000. However, cryptocurrency is not a conventional currency.
Customers would lose access to their cash during a bankruptcy, according to the Coinbase release. This is when things start to get interesting. Coinbase's CEO blamed the SEC (the Securities and Exchange Commission) in a series of tweets. The federal agency with which Elon Musk regularly clashes.
The SEC required the language in his report implying funds are not safe, according to Coinbase's CEO, and the company is not in danger of going bankrupt. He was forced to do it by the government.
Is the federal government about to launch a crypto crackdown? Coinbase has to announce that its clients' funds are susceptible to bankruptcy procedures and the SEC recently hired a new crypto squad to hunt down crooks.
In addition, we're waiting to hear whether the US government would introduce a digital currency to compete with free-market crypto.
