Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are increasingly becoming a part in American politics.
Crypto campaign contributions are now accepted by a record number of elected officials and political candidates from both parties.
During his 2016 presidential campaign, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul became the first presidential contender to accept Bitcoin payments.
Today, the Republican Party's Congressional campaign committee, as well as some Republican politicians, like Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters, accept Bitcoin donations. In fact, Masters has recently gone even further than that.
One of the most unique political fundraising strategies we've seen. By selling NFTs based on his bestselling book '0 to 1,' Masters raised more than half a million dollars in 36 hours.
In 2020, Andrew Yang, a Democratic presidential contender, became the first Democratic presidential candidate to accept Bitcoin donations. Several other democratic politicians have followed suit in recent years.
This includes Congressman Darren Soto of Florida and congressional candidate Erica Rhodes. Rhodes has received a lot of support from Bitcoin supporters as she seeks to unseat Congressman Brad Sherman of California, who is arguably the most anti-crypto member of the House of Representatives.
