People are getting $170 olds and overdraft fees on their debit cards as a result of the exorbitant gas costs.
Given the high cost of gas, you should refrain from using your debit card at the pump because $175 holds make it simple to overdraw and incur up to a $35 fee.
Overdraft fees bring in billions of revenue for banks. You're better off paying with cash or a credit card at the petrol station right now to avoid incurring further fees.
However, keep in mind that with $175 holds, your card may be denied if you are getting near to your credit limit.
Use cash or a credit card with a lot of available credit if you want to be particularly cautious. At the petrol station, avoid using debit cards until you walk inside and pay with your pin to perhaps prevent an overdraft fee.
And compare pricing; they differ greatly. Check websites like Gas Buddy to make sure you're not wasting your money while making sure you're not going too far to obtain gas.
