Large distances between charging stations make it challenging for drivers of electric vehicles to travel without their batteries dying.
What must currently occur for charging stations to be distributed equally across the nation?
The majority of charging is done at home, and the driver only needs to make sure they get home before their batteries die. And public charging stations are clustered around wealthy neighborhoods.
The average property price in the 20 communities with the most electric vehicle charging stations, according to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, was $800,000. That is more than twice the average cost of a home in the country.
So what can we do to stop desserts from charging? We currently require about 20 times as many stations as there are. And so far, the Biden administration has pledged $2.5 billion to give more charging access to “underserved and overburdened communities.”
Additionally, private businesses are making their best efforts. According to CNBC, GM intends to provide each of its electric vehicle dealers with up to 10 charging stations. Ford has the most extensive market-wide charging infrastructure, while Tesla is aiming to make its network accessible to the general public.
