The LIV golf tournament was founded as a rival golf organization that has been using substantial sums of money to entice top players away from the PGA Tour.
Just a few of the well-known players that have switched from the PGA Tour to the LIV include Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Phil Mickelson.
In response, the PGA Tour prohibited any players who joined the LIV tour from competing in their events. As a result, several players who quit the LIV tour are now dealing with criticism because the LIV tour is supported by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
The Justice Department is currently looking into the PGA Tour's conduct to see if they violated antitrust laws. Their claim is quite straightforward.
The LIV asserts that the PGA Tour is forcing them to spend more money to conduct business by prohibiting players from competing in their tournaments, which is true.
The LIV wouldn't be required to offer $25 million in prize money at its tournaments if the golfers were permitted to compete in both leagues.
