More than $50 billion in foreign aid is given by the US each year.
But Americans might not know that our taxpayer money is funding groups and governments that aren’t allies. Here are five questionable recipients of US foreign aid.
One: Afghanistan
The Taliban took over last year and now America is giving the extremist regime money again. Girls must wear full-body burkas and are not permitted in schools.
Two: the United Nations Relief and Works Agency
Previously defunded by the Trump administration, funding is now being restored. Some of their resources are employed to foment anti-Semitism, terrorism, and extremism throughout the Middle East, particularly in Israel, Jordan, the Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, and other regions.
Three: Tunisia
The nation that made an effort to move toward democracy during the Arab Spring has gotten billions in help. However, a significant portion of it was lost as a result of fraud, bribery, and kickbacks.
Even worse, none of the country's problems have been resolved as a result of the funds.
Four: Myanmar (Burma)
This country has again become authoritarian after briefly experimenting with some democracy.
In the meantime, the cruel military regime is charged with genocide for allegedly carrying out ethnic cleansing and driving out Muslim Rohingya communities.
Five: South Sudan
The newest country on the planet is a mess. Even though we are sending hundreds of millions of dollars there, it is still one of the most corrupt nations in the world.
